 About
Rod Green

I was drafted Nov. 1, 1967 and attended basic trading at Fort Lewis, WA. Then to Fort Polk, LA. for advanced individual training (AIT) at Tigerland. From there, to Fort Benning, GA., for Non-Commissioned Officers Course (NCOC) and jump school.  Back to Fort Lewis for 8 weeks and shipped to Vietnam Nov. 1, 1968.

I was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division with Company A, 1st Battalion, 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade.  Our Brigade base camp was at a place called LZ (Landing Zone) Sally, located South West of the Imperial capital of Hue.  I was first assigned as a squad leader and soon after to platoon sergeant.

I returned from Vietnam in 1969, and returned to college.  I joined the South National Guard where I received a direct commission as a Second Lieutenant in the field artillery.  In October 1976 I was hired as a full-time technician with the Guard.

In 1983, I remained in the Guard but was converted to Active Guard/Reserve (AGR) program.  I retired from the Army National Guard in April 1999 as a Lieutenant Colonel.  In January 2000, I began a ten year career as a Federal Investigator, retiring in December 2009.

I have been married to my wife Helen for over 46 years and currently reside in Sioux Falls, SD.
